The Lyman Museum Gift Shop is a wonderful place to select a special present for a friend or loved one, find a beautiful hand-crafted item to decorate your home, or discover a book about any number of fascinating, Hawai‘i-related topics. Some gift shop specialties include:

LYMAN GIFT SHOP SPECIALTY: THE NI‘IHAU SHELL LEI
The exquisite Ni‘ihau Shell Lei is an art form intricately woven into the lives and culture of the Ni‘ihau people. These leis are uniquely made and are found nowhere else in the world. Different types of shells are used in a Ni‘ihau lei, from a relatively large to minute size. The tiniest and most colorful command a very high price. They are meticulously gathered, sorted pierced, sewn and woven into the finest shell leis produced in Hawai‘, on the privately owned island, Ni‘ihau. Each lei has its own character, the quality of which is unsurpassed. Ni'ihau Shell Leis are highly prized heirlooms. Archival photos of Hawaii's monarchs durning the 1800's show the ali‘i wearing the prized jewelry. Families of Ni'ihau artisans have been living with this cultural art form for many generations, a heritage and tradition that has withstood the test of time… one of Hawai'i's lasting true arts.

The gift shop is open 9:30-4:30, Monday through Saturday.
