In addition to its displays and exhibits, the Lyman Museum
serves the Hilo and island community through a variety of programs, workshops
and tours. These include:
- MUSEUM & MISSION HOUSE TOURS.
The Lyman Museum offers
tours for school groups (pre-school through 12th grade) and other
groups. Interpretive tours through the Museum’s galleries and the
Mission House. School tours prices range from $1.50 to $5.00 per
student. One adult chaperone is required for every 10 students;
chaperones are not
charged. Additional adult prices range from $5.00 to $7.00.
Prices vary for groups
other than school groups, please contact the museum for a
price quote.

- ELDERHOSTEL PROGRAM. Elderhostel,
Inc. is a nonprofit national organization dedicated to adventures in
lifelong learning for people over 55 (and their friends), with
programs hosted by educational and cultural institutions around the
world.
- DOWNTOWN HILO WALKING TOURS. Walking tours of historic downtown
Hilo, conducted by Museum docents. Cover topics such as island waters
and transportation, Hilo as a commercial center, Kalakaua Park as
the town center, early religious sites, early education in Hilo, old
buildings and descriptions of plants and trees along the route. (Let
us know your preference!)
Fee: $1.50 per student. Teachers/chaperones: no charge. Group Size
Limit: 15. Tour Length: about 1.5 hr.
